Privacy Policy
Effective June 19 2025
1 Scope
Tennessee Bitcoin Alliance (“TNBTC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Tennessee-chartered social-welfare organization recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(4). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you interact with our websites, mobile experiences, events, donation pages, or any other service that links to this Policy (collectively, the “Services”).
Regulatory context
• Donor disclosure. 501(c)(4) organizations are not required to list donor names or addresses on the publicly available portions of IRS Form 990.
• State privacy law. Non-profit entities—including §501(c)(4) organizations—are exempt from the Tennessee Information Protection Act (TIPA).

We gather only the information needed to operate our Services, engage supporters, and meet legal obligations:
Identity and contact information – name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, and (if you choose) social-media handle.
Donor and membership records – contribution amounts, payment method tokens (handled by PCI-DSS-compliant processors), membership tier, event registrations, and communication preferences.
Advocacy and survey responses – policy interests, petition signatures, or answers you supply in questionnaires we circulate to advance our mission.
Technical data – IP address, device type, browser details, pages visited, and similar usage information collected automatically through cookies or server logs.
Derived analytics – aggregated statistics or performance reports we create from the data above to measure the effectiveness of our websites, emails, and campaigns.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
3 How We Use Information
Provide and secure the Services – create accounts, process donations, enable log-in, and maintain cybersecurity.
Engage members and donors – send receipts, renewal notices, event invitations, and policy updates.
Advance advocacy efforts – organize petitions, legislative outreach, or public-policy campaigns permissible for §501(c)(4) entities.
Improve performance – analyze site traffic, test features, and refine content.
Meet legal or regulatory duties – file required returns, prevent fraud, and respond to lawful requests.
4 Donor-Privacy Commitment
We do not sell, rent, or trade supporter lists.
Public recognition occurs only with a donor’s explicit consent.
Access to donor information is restricted to personnel and service providers who need it to perform their duties and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Disclosure of donor information is limited to circumstances mandated by law, valid court order, or IRS regulations noted above.
5 Cookies & Online Tracking
We use first-party cookies and comparable technologies to remember preferences, maintain session security, and compile anonymous usage metrics. You can disable cookies in your browser, though doing so may affect site functionality.
6 Data Sharing
We share personal information only as necessary and in accordance with applicable law:
Service providers – third-party companies that host our systems, process payments, send e-mails, or perform analytics on our behalf under written agreements limiting their use of the data.
Co-sponsors or partners – organizations with which we jointly run events or campaigns; we share only what is required for the specific collaboration and provide notice when the partner will receive your information.
Legal or governmental authorities – when we believe disclosure is required to comply with a subpoena, court order, IRS inquiry, or other legal process, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
Corporate changes – if TNBTC merges, restructures, or transfers assets, information may transfer to the successor organization subject to this Privacy Policy.
We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising and do not sell personal information.
7 International Users
Our servers are located in the United States. By using the Services from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States, subject to applicable law.
8 Data Security & Retention
We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss. Donation transactions occur over encrypted (TLS) channels and utilize tokenized payment data. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy or to satisfy legal requirements—typically seven years for donor records and a shorter period for routine server logs, unless a longer retention is mandated.
