Tennessee stands at an economic crossroads. Federal monetary policy has debased the dollar, burdened citizens with unsustainable debt, and centralized control over commerce. Tennesseans deserve a financial foundation anchored in transparency, predictability, and individual sovereignty. Bitcoin, distinct from the broader field of “crypto,” provides that foundation through an open protocol, immutable monetary rules, and permissionless settlement. Tennessee Bitcoin Alliance is a permanent institution dedicated to ensuring that every resident, business, and public servant in Tennessee can harness bitcoin’s advantages without legal or regulatory obstruction.

Vision

We envision a Tennessee where sound money underpins daily life; where the smallest vendor, the largest manufacturer, and the state treasury itself holds and transacts with bitcoin as confidently as they handle dollars today. In that future, economic opportunity flourishes because individuals and institutions may conduct voluntary exchange and protect the fruit of their labor with sound digital money.

Mission

We exist to educate, protect, and activate. We educate Tennesseans from all walks of life about bitcoin’s benefits. We protect the right to self-custody, node operation, and bitcoin-denominated commerce through targeted legislative work. We drive economic growth by shaping a path for commercial activity in Tennessee to use bitcoin.

Core Principles

• Bitcoin is sound digital money, as gold is sound physical money.
• Access to sound money is a human right.
• Self-custody of bitcoin is non-negotiable because it is personal property.
• Permissionless peer-to-peer transactions are inviolable because they are a form of speech.
• Transparency and proof-of-work are core principles of the Bitcoin Network that can and should extend to other domains.

Strategic Objectives

We will secure statutory language that supports bitcoin-fueled economic growth in Tennessee. Examples include:

• Affirm the natural right for Tennesseans to hold bitcoin in self-custody.
• Protect the freedom to run bitcoin and lightning nodes without regulation, licensing, or surveillance.
• Lay the groundwork for any party doing business in Tennessee to transact in bitcoin.
• Formalize legal classifications for crypto assets according to their properties – for example, distinguishing digital sound money from centralized tokens and CBDCs.
• Deploy curriculum modules on bitcoin economics across primary, secondary, and university classrooms.

Programs and Initiatives

We will educate Tennesseans about the benefits of an economy increasingly based on digital sound money through:

• Civic-literacy workshops that demystify bitcoin for the public.
• Private briefings at the state capitol for legislators on bitcoin voter priorities.
• Social and educational events across the state, connecting technologists, entrepreneurs, and voters.
• Mentor pairings that help merchants implement durable bitcoin operations.
• Reports that track legislative progress, market adoption, and educational reach.

TNBTC is governed by a Board of Directors committed to transparency and accountability. Supporters and partners shape priorities through surveys, Working Groups, and advisory input.
